Today, I’m celebrating the new Elizabeth Arden fragrance, UNTOLD, which smells quite luxurious. The top notes are sparkling Pink Pepper fused with crisp Bergamot following accents of Pear and Blackcurrant. What first drew me to this fragrance was the inspiration behind it: “There is an untold story behind every modern woman who is thriving in her life’s journey. She owns every experience she’s had, every decision she’s made and is blossoming into a woman of many facets.” Words I certainly try to live by on a daily basis.
When I started my blog, I was in such a different place in my life. In a good place, but in a place of a typical twenty something year old. Enjoying life, but still not fully sure of who I was and what I was doing. When I turned thirty, I don’t know if a switch went off, but I started to feel differently. Of course this was after getting over the initial shock of not being in my 20s anymore, which I swear, took about 6 months. People say that your 30s are the best years of your life and now, I can understand why. I feel so much more confident. I care a lot less of what people think of me. I know what works for me and my body type. I care less about trends and concentrate more on “investment pieces.” I’m in a much better place in my career, which allows me to buy those so called investment pieces. I actually prefer a cozy night in with Keith and the dogs to a wild night of clubbing. And as much as I adore being around loved ones, I enjoy spending time alone. I have way better control over my emotions, even during that crazy time of month (Keith might disagree with this one). The best part, I know my strengths and weaknesses and constantly try to improve both. Now with the New Year upon us, it’s even more of a reason to become a better version of myself. That’s part of my UNTOLD story. It’s to remember to fully enjoy life, to take some chances and to continue to grow as a person.
xoxo,
Helena

I love the story behind this fragrance. I'll be thirty this year and I agree… 30 is the year to embrace a different (more exciting, mature) part of you. I'm definitely interesting in checking this out. Thanks for sharing 😉

Agreed with everything! I turn 31 in February and I have become much more confident about where I am in life in the past few years. I'm over trendy things that are going to break or be out in 2 seconds. I look for shoes and furniture that are going to last and don't waste money on things that won't.

Love this post. I am thirty and I completely agree. I don't really care what people think about me anymore. I have no problem telling people how I feel, whereas when I was younger I definitely would have gone with the crowd more.
Hope you are staying warm in this crazy NYC weather.

I always hear that your 30's are the best time in your life and while I am not close to it yet I can see why as well. As a 24 year old I have no idea what I want to do with my life and knowing I am shaping as a person everyday. At least I know there is hope that at some point in my life I will feel a bit more "found". Beautiful picture with the perfume as well I bet it smells amazing.

I love hearing how happy you are!
I feel a big difference just between 20 and 25. I am still in my mid twenties, but as you talked about I definitely enjoy nights in with my husband and dog more than wild night out. Looking forward to the confidence and the ability to buy investment pieces that you mentioned!

I loved turning 30. This year I turn 32, and I love telling people my age. I'm proud to be a *woman*. I love how far I've come. I am proud of what I have accomplished so far. I feel stronger and more confident, more self-aware than I ever did in my 20s. I feel like I finally started living. I feel like I finally know who I am and what I want.
I appreciate this post so much. I love how introspective you were. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Beautifully written, Helena. I had no idea you were in your 30s. You look like you're 25. I've always admired your style because…even in your pictures you exude confidence. At first I thought it must be your amazing clothing that give you that look of a confident woman. But after reading your blog for the past 2 years, I came to realize by looking at your pictures, that it wasn't what you wore on the outside that made you look this way, but what you have on the inside.
Thanks for sharing your story!
