When I think about skincare brands that are at the forefront of mixing science and technology, I immediately think of SkinCeuticals. They’re a favorite among the industry elite and dermatologists for good reason: incredible products that produce extremely effective results.

A few weeks ago, I attended their Custom D.O.S.E event and was able to get my own personalized serum. I met with their dermatologist on site, Dr. Karan Sra of Houston Skin, who was absolutely wonderful. We went through my concerns and areas I want to focus on: discoloration and anti-aging; Based on our convo, I got my very own serum curated towards my areas of concern.
HOW IT WORKS:
After a one-on-one consultation, the doctor will determine what ingredients will be most beneficial for you. Next, he/she will enter the information into a program and the D.O.S.E machine will mix and dispense a customized serum. The machine is able to combine active ingredients that can address multiple skin issues including discoloration and anti-aging (fine lines) concerns. Lastly, a label is put on the bottle which includes a custom barcode for easy re-ordering.
WHERE CAN I GET IT?
I got this question a lot on Instagram. This is a treatment that you will only be able to get at a doctors’s office that has this technology. SkinCeuticals is starting to roll it out to more offices but in the meantime, here’s the current list that has it.
HOW MUCH IS IT?
$195 per bottle.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
If used every night, it will last about 3 months.
HOW DO I USE IT?
It depends on what is in it. For example, since mine has retinol, I only use mine at night. I cleanse my face, tone, and then apply this treatment. After a few minutes, I go about my usual routine of cream and face oil. It’s one of my typical routines (I have several), but I have eliminated my other retinol since the D.O.S.E contains it already! Once you chat with the doctor, he/she will be able to guide you on the best way to use it.
IS IT GOOD FOR ALL SKIN TONES? ALL ETHNICITIES?
Yes! In fact, because it’s so personalized, it’s going to be geared towards your specific skin type.
