The Oscars are this Sunday and for anybody that knows me, knows that I celebrate the day like a national holiday. In the past, I’d prepare by watching as many nominated movies as possible, but this year I barely got around to watching more than a handful. Regardless, I love everything about the day – red carpet coverage, the acceptance speeches and all the excitement leading up to the event. This year, the awards are even more special because OJ: Made in America, the documentary Keith did the sound for, is nominated! Pretty exciting stuff!
So, in celebration of the big event, I wanted to share my all-time favorite movies, my Β “movies you need to watch” list. Typically, I’m not someone who can watch the same movie over and over again. I get easily distracted and would rather be doing something else with my time, but when any of these come on, I’m glued. La La land is a new addition, but it’s undoubtedly on my list.
Here are my all-time favorites. I would love to hear what yours are!
The Departed
Good Will Hunting
Family Stone
La La Land
Love Actually
The Notebook
Mean Girls
Dirty Dancing
What are yours?!

I haven’t’ got an opportunity to watch any movies for the past 5 years and on … I love to see La La Land before the Oscars though … but then again, that’s just my wishful thinking! π

I love The Departed and Good Will Hunting. Love Actually and The Family Stone are both annual Christmas watches at our house. Dirty Dancing is a classic. I am a major movie lover and it’s so hard to choose. Pride & Prejudice (2005) is one of my all time favorite movies. Others: Whale Rider, Signs, McFarland, USA, The Goodbye Girl (1977), The Silence of the Lambs, Braveheart, Gladiator, Bend It Like Beckham, Murphy’s Romance, The Color Purple, Coal Miner’s Daughter, About a Boy, Jaws, Alien, Aliens, Tootsie, The Princess Bride, Life Is Beautiful, and it goes on and on. Once I got started too many came to mind!

Second The Princess Bride mentioned by Diana. π I also have too many to list, but Rear Window (OMG, Grace Kelly’s outfits!) for something classic, Mary and Max for something quirky, Cinema Paradiso for something foreign. And I’m actually a sucker for How to Train Your Dragon because Toothless reminds me of a cat I lost.
Good luck to Keith!

The American President, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, & Love Actually are definitely my favorite movies.
The only nominated movie this year I’ve seen is La La Land (2 little kids making going to the theater more difficult!) but I looooved it. Definitely think it may break into my favorites!

Many wonderful movies have been listed. As a Mum, however, my heart strongly favours the animated movies for children. My favourites include all of the Walt Disney classics, Ice Age (all of them), Toy Story 1,2 and 3, Cars, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, A Bugs Life, Finding Nemo, the Lion King, Monsters Inc, Antz, Up, The Incredibles, Shrek, Mulan, and Lilo and Stitch. Oh so many wonderful kids movies that I have watched with my now grown children.

Img, I have so many favourite movies. To choose from your favourites I love Notebook and Dirty dancing, for sure! This year I’m rooting for Manchester by the sea – I think this is the most emotional film I’ve seen in a many years. And Michelle Williams (even she hasn’t have many scenes) is brilliant π
