On another note, after going back and forth, Keith and I finally decided that we’re probably going to go to Spain in April! I’ve never been and I’ll be extra excited once we finally book it. We’re thinking of flying into Barcelona, staying there for a few days, and then taking the train to another city in Spain. I would love and appreciate any recommendations as far as hotels. Something that is centrally located but not crazy expensive. I know that once the trip is booked, I’ll be asking for other recommendations 🙂

Helena! I lived in Barcelona for six months and it is my favorite city ON THE GLOBE. I can tell you everyyyyyyyyyyyywhere to go and eat and SHOP oh my god….I found more amazing things in Barcelona than I did anywhere I visited in Europe. They have the most amazing boots, coats, funky jewelry, bags. The TopShop and Zara and Mango collections are COMPLETELY different than in the U.S., and by different I mean- twenty billion times better. I seriously went broke living there because I couldn't stop shopping. The SHOES!!! Ahhh you're going to die.
You should check out the hotel "Granados 83". It is SO NEAT and if you get a room on the interior, there is a really funky city view. When my boyfriend came to visit me, I had booked this room for one night and surprised him with it. It's very chic and sexy but also masculine– my boyfriend was obsessed with it. Also there is a sick rooftop pool/bar/deck that wasn't open when we stayed there because it was early March, but definitely will be open for you in April! It's like a ten minute walk to the central central part of the city, which is perfect because you walk everywhere anyways, and because staying in the center, i.e. Plaza Catalunya is WAY too touristy.

Perhaps most importantly, it's very reasonably priced, espppecially for how nice it was. Our stay was 139 euros which at the time was about 200 bucks. TOTALLY WORTH IT!
I have a million more suggestions for you….my favorite cozy wine bars and restaurants tucked away down charming little side alleys, ….I stayed away from all the touristy things because all you find there are other Americans and no Spaniards, which defeats the whole purpose of going to Spain.
