Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum is not new to the beauty industry, as a matter of fact, I’m late to the game. Caroline Hirons wrote about it years ago and recently, Tina from Bag Snob said it’s one of her top two favorite products. I only mention these two women because I always value their beauty opinion. The final straw was when Erin, founder of Sparkle Media and my instagram friend (lol) also deemed it a product she cannot live without. There are just certain people whose opinions you don’t take lightly.
I first wrote about it here and after that post, April, the founder of Vintner’s Daughter, reached out to me and offered to send me a bottle to try out(!!!!) After a 20 minute phone convo, I got off the phone having the full scoop on one of the beauty industries most buzzed about products. If you’re interested, you could read the full story here. It’s a good one!
I’m not going to lie, I get a lot of products sent to me. I try a lot of stuff, but I only write about the products that truly excite me. Vintner’s Daughter happens to be one of those products. The thing is, it’s very expensive ($185!) and I’m always sensitive about recommending such a pricey item, but a few of you have been asking, so here we are.
What makes Vintner’s Daughter so good? Lets start with 22 of the world’s most active botanicals -and not just extracts, the case with a lot of skincare, but 100% in their natural form. April, alongside natural beauty experts, spent 2+ years formulating this serum to get it just right!
During our conversation, April mentioned that her routine consisted of cleansing, toning and then Vintner’s Daughter. That’s it! If you’re super dry, you can add a moisturizer or oil on top (I’d wait a few minutes) or SPF during the day. Personally, I use it only at night.
Random fun fact: April said that her toner of choice was P50! Of course I had to ask and I got excited when I heard that. It’s the only not 100% natural product that she uses because duh, it’s that good.
The bottom line, if you’re someone that is comfortable with spending $$ on skincare, I highly recommend! It’s a beautiful product and really does make my skin look so good! However, if you’re looking for a miracle product that is going to solve every single skincare concern, fade all of your acne marks and make you look a decade years younger, please let me know when you find such a product. Realistically, I don’t think something like that exists, but hey, maybe I’m missing out.
I also wanted to add, I still love my Yuli Liquid Courage and typically, alternate between that, Skinceuticals and Vintner’s Daughter. No matter what I use during the day, I always layer my favorite SPF on top.
Lastly, now that my first bottle is almost done, I definitely plan to repurchase it on my own dime.
The serum can be purchased here and here.

Where does your use of retinols play in with this product?
May 18, 2017Helena
Hey Kira,
I have yet to use Vintner’s Daughter and retinol during the same night, so I’ve been alternating. I typically use my retinol 3x a week.

I was always in doubt as to whether or not I was applying sunscreen, moisture/primer foundation in the proper order. Following some lengthy research I find myself even more confused as no one seems have the same opinion. Helena, in what order do you apply sunscreen and your skin care products??
May 18, 2017Helena
Hi Nicole!
Personally, I would apply in this order:
cleanse, tone, vitamin c/antioxidant serum, SPF, primer then foundation. If you have a separate moisturizer from your SPF, I’d apply that moisturizer then SPF.
Hope that helps!

When it comes to skincare, I believe that if the product is truly effective and does what it claims, while being beneficial to the skin with great ingredients, it’s worth it, even if it has a hefty price tag. I’d probably put this on a special occasion wish list in hopes of receiving it as a gift or treat myself to it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I’ll definitely have to keep it in mind! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, beauty!

Jalisa

This was the 2nd face oil that I used after Rodin and it completely blew that one away. However I started phasing out products that were photo-sensitizing due to increases in sun spots so I had to stop using this beautiful but citrus-heavy serum to prevent further sun damage and it led me to try RMS and YULI which are both luxurious, better priced, and produced even better results for my skin.

I keep seeing this product come up as highly recommended. When I am in need of a new face oil at night (I am currently using Caudalie’s new one – its just ok) I am going to take another look at this one. I also want to try the new La Mer Renewal Oil that came out a few years ago. Have you tried that one?

Thanks for sharing this! Do you ever find yourself getting any breakouts from using this? And does this help control any hormonal breakouts? Thanks!
